I kinda feel like you may be a bit harsh on the plot. Or maybe I have missunderstood your opinion. But I disagree on there being nothing new and no meaningful reframing. We've learned a lot about miquella, mogh and radahn and if anything, I personally prefer the dlc being properly tied into the preexisting world as opposed to bombarding me with forced mindblowing "well actually"s. I see ot more line the dlc is refining and adding just as much as needed for the purpose of the story miyazaki wants to tell.

The implication to me just seems like midra was afflicted by the frenzy, but in a latent sort of way. Nanaya held that back, when they had a child that died they both fell to despair which she knew would set off his frenzy. Worst of all she died before him and in a last ditch attempt to keep the world safe she begged him to "endure", keeping the frenzy away. The inquisitons involvement is more vague, might be they killed the child in attempt to stifle the frenzy. Might be they just came in and "sealed" midra, maybe they killed nanaya. Either way im sure they were of little help in the long run.

Im pretty sure at least Midra was NOT pro-frenzied flame. Its why he desperately wants people to stay away, to prevent the madness from spreading. Also why he never pulled the sealing thorns out earlier even though they cause him unending suffering. I interpret Nanaya's words as her imploring him to keep the flame sealed which is why he apologizes to her when he finally cant take anymore and releases it. I imagine this is also why the frenzied flame never ended up spreading that far beyond his mansion and why he is considered too weak/failed as a lord of frenzied flame. So basically: us going into an abandoned mansion to beat the crap out of a crippled suffering old man is what almost destroyed the world here, as Miyasaki intended!

I could be totally off base with this one but I feel like the Scadutree Avatar might have something to do with Godwyn. Just because of the golden light, the fact that miquella of all places left his rune with it and the fact that Godwyns mending rune literally looks like a sunflower

I really think the furnace golems are meant to be fought while riding Torrent. You can roll the stomp AOE, but double jumping with Torrent is so much easier.

The backhand blades are amazing freeze status weapons, which also scale with intelligence. Well, they are perfect for any status build but in your case freeze will do best with intelligence. Frost bite procs do a lot of damage similar to bleed.

Marika's origin gave me literal chills. Such humble beginnings. Such human motivations and such an ancient and personal tragic story that unintentionally set in motion such grand and cosmic consequences. Walking around in that abandoned serene and humble village knowing what was set in motion there gave me chills like nothing else in Elden Ring has.

Just a heads up, because I've panicked when my ancient sombre stones were missing and found them in storage before, you can just get rid of weapon duplicates or other useless things. It doesn't have to be sorceries or incantations, it's because your inventory is cumulatively full from everything.

Couple of things 1. Holy shit I am impressed you got through that door so fast. As a new fromsoft player I never would have gestured if I hadn't looked it up. 2. I really appreciate that you didn't look at chat as much. Sometimes people stop playing and talk for an hour randomly and I appreciate that you set time aside for that instead. 3. VINDICATION! I have said for a long time that I doubt Marika is wholly evil. The main reason I found your videos was because of your breakdown of the first picture posted about Shadow of the Erdtree, and I think you may have said something about Marika being a grey character rather than evil. That cemented my subscription.

What's up with high priests and their hidden creepy personality despite teaching us so much about certain things giving us knowledge little did we know they hide a very creepy disturbed personality inside, Ymir was the best example. 😂

This DLC is super interesting because it basically broke the communities prejudices against a bunch of characters. Mogh, Miquella... Marika. (yes theres much more but I liked the whole M thing I had going on lol) None of them saints, none of them fully evil, in the end, god or not, just flawed people like everyone else. Up to us to decide what is justified, but I think *that* part of the conversation isn't what FROM or GGRM wanted us to focus on. Not hashtag team this or that, but the complexity of the characters.

Messmer is my new favorite character in Elden Ring. His OST, his appearance, his lore, and that voice: Messmerizing. You can tell they spent so much time refining his design. I had high expectations for him and I was still amazed. I’ve been so compelled to look for items out in the Shadow Realm that tell me more about him. He’s what really sold this expansion for me.
